Natasha Lea

Being born in Perth Western Australia, one of the worlds most isolated cities in the 90's, leads creative youths to entertain themselves in pretty much any way they can. Ripping into pens from the get go, and making unbearably unfinished books, Natasha  Lea dreamed that one day hopefully, someone would like her art enough to put it on their walls.

From the early stages of life, it was pretty evident that whatever path Natasha took (Tash in person), it was going to be something within the arts.

Lets fast forward a few hundred years

Its pretty evident within the themes and nostalgic feels of Natasha's artwork that her childhood of getting up to mischief and scribbles has left an everlasting flame within her drive to create.

Natasha life as a self-taught illustrator, took off in 2012 when she held her debut exhibition in at the Chrissie Parrott Arts Centre-  Titled “Laced”. Comprising of works from each corner of her creative life such as, costume, bridal jewellery, puppets and illustration.

This was a fantastic platform for Natasha to see which creative path to follow.

Inspired by how well her illustrations were received, Natasha followed up “Laced” with two sell out exhibitions at KURB Gallery Northbridge, Western Australia – “self titled-Natasha Lea” in 2013 and “Dreamscape” 2014.

Primarily working with pen, ink, markers and archival watercolour paper, Natasha recently started doing wall murals for small to large spaces, with one of her largest completed for the City of Cottesloe. Additional works can be found out and about on the streets of Fremantle. Natasha has also worked with local writer & journalist Jolly Read in illustrating her new book, Can a Quokka Quack! Available in many independent bookstores across Fremantle.

At the moment, Natasha is busy working away for her next solo exhibition which will promise to give you some of the classic Natasha Lea design & illustration pieces as well as some amazing new concepts that she has tucked away secretly in her head for the big reveal!
